Cleansing removes makeup, dirt and grease from the surface of your skin.
A good cleanser maybe a mild soap, gentle exfoliant, or a rich crème. No matter which one you choose, apply it to the skin with the pads of your fingers.
Use gentle circular motions to gently spread the cleanser over the surface of the skin. When ready, rinse off with warm water. Pat off excess moisture from face and neck.

After cleansing the skin, apply a toner. This is designed to remove left over traces of cleanser and to tone and prepare your skin for a moisturizer. A very effective toner will leave your skin feeling dewy fresh, so as to allow for easy absorbsion of the moisturizer to follow.
A good toner balances skins pH level, minimizes pore sizes & cools, soothes and refreshes your skin.
Use toner by applying it to a damp cotton wool bud and wiping over your face or alternatively spray it on (being careful to keep it away from eyes).

The final step is to moisturize the skin. Volcanic Earth’s unscented Facial Moisturizer is made from pure virgin coconut and olive oils and is a light crème suitable for all skin types.

Why do we use Lavender Essential Oil, Rose Geranium Essential oil and Neroli Essential Oil?
Lavender Essential Oil is ideal for blemished skin because it is antiseptic and antibacterial. It also has antimicrobial activity to help prevent wounds from becoming infected, and is used to treat burns and prevent scarring. Lavender Essential Oil also relieves inflamation and is used in aromatherapy to relieve anxiety.
ROSE GERANIUM (PELARGONIUM) There are different types of Rose Geraniums that are steamed distilled to make Rose Geranium Essential Oils. Rose Geranium Essential oil is added to perfumes and toiletries because it is astringent, refreshing and has a balancing effect on the skin. It also antifungal and antibacterial and can be used to soothe the symptoms of DERMATITIS AND ECZEMA. Rose Geranium Essential Oil is used in aromatherapy to relieve tension. The leaves and the oil from the plant are used to promote relaxation, and as an anti-depressant, anti-inflamatory and for its antiseptic healing properties. Rose Geranium has healing properties, which make it good for mature and damaged skin.
Volcanic Pumice Powder = we use superfine and therfore very gentle pumice, high in mineral content. It is naturally formed, requires no chemicals to process the granules and is an exceptional treatment for skin blemishes, especially acne. NEROLI (ORANGE BLOSSOM) ESSENTIAL OIL
The Orange Blossoms are gathered, usually by hand, and the Neroli Oil is produced by water distillation, as the blossom is too fragile to endure steam distillation. Neroli has a refreshing and distinctive, spicy aroma with sweet and flowery notes and is one of the most widely used floral oils in perfumery. Neroli is a non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing, non-photo-toxic substance. Neroli essential oil is used in aromatherapy and massage, and is considered to have a soothing effect on the nervous system. Traditionally Neroli Oil was used not only to relieve tension and anxiety, but also to increase circulation.

Many people are not aware that a lot of popular personal care products contain toxic chemicals. The common ingredients in such seemingly harmless things like toothpaste, deodorant, skin cleansers and even baby products contain chemicals that have been linked to health problems such cancer, infertility and learning disabilities.
The chemicals found in many personal care products also have a detrimental effect on the environment, as these contaminants make their way into our waterways.
As consumers are becoming more aware, many are choosing to use all natural skin care and cosmetic products like Volcanic Earth's. Please start reading ingredients on labels and make healthy choices.
A few common examples:-
1) Fragrances. Don't be fooled. Just because it smells good, doesn't mean it is. Most fragrances are of synthetic origin. Fragrance on a label can indicate the presence of up to four thousand separate ingredients, many toxic or carcinogenic (causing or contributing to cancer). Manufacturers are not required to disclose the individual ingredients as they are considered "trade secrets."
On a positive note, if essentials oils are used in a skin care product they must be listed, so always choose pure essential oils to advoid chemicals.
2) FD&C Color Pigments. Again, don't be fooled. Just because it looks pretty doesn't mean it is. The only purpose color pigments serve is to make the product look attractive. It serves absolutely no beneficial purpose for your skin. These color pigments are actually synthetic colors made from coal tar, containing heavy metal salts that deposit toxins onto the skin, causing skin sensitivity and irritation. Animal studies have shown almost all of them to be carcinogenic. These are often labeled on a product with a number following, such as FD&C Blue No. 1.
Volcanic Earth only uses natural colourings like coloured clays.
3) Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) & Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). You will find these ingredients in almost all cleansers that foam, like shampoo. These chemicals are even used in car washes, garage floor cleaners and engine degreasers. Research indicates that Sodium Lauryl Sulfate causes inflammation of the skin and can weaken the immune system. Young eyes may not develop properly if exposed to SLS because proteins are dissolved. Be especially alert for these ingredients in Baby Shampoo.
